Building On a 15-Year History

For 15 years, the Arlington International Film Festival built a reputation as one of New England’s most respected platforms for independent and international cinema. AIFF consistently elevated bold, globally relevant storytelling, showcasing films that went on to achieve major recognition and distribution. Selections have included Academy Award–nominated works such as BOTSO: The Teacher from Tbilisi, Elena, and Documented, demonstrating the festival’s long-standing commitment to identifying powerful voices early.

Beyond awards recognition, AIFF has served as a meaningful launchpad for filmmakers whose work reached major audiences through outlets like CNN, PBS, POV, WGBH, and NOVA. Films such as We Still Live Here were even selected by the U.S. State Department for international cultural programming, highlighting the festival’s impact not just within the industry, but on global cultural dialogue. Over time, AIFF became known not only for the quality of its programming, but for its ability to connect local audiences with urgent, worldwide perspectives.

This next chapter builds directly on that legacy. Finding Bright Film Festival takes the credibility, global reach, and curatorial excellence of AIFF and pushes it further - expanding beyond traditional screenings into a fully immersive, artist-centered experience. While the name has changed, the commitment to bold storytelling remains; now paired with a sharper focus on creative risk, interdisciplinary collaboration, and building a true incubator for unconventional filmmakers.
